Nondestructive Testing (NDT) is a growing field that plays a critical role in assuring that structural components and systems perform their function in a reliable and cost-effective fashion. NDT technicians and engineers define and implement tests that locate and characterize material conditions and flaws that might otherwise cause less visible but troubling events. These tests are performed in a manner that does not affect the future use of the object or material. In other words, NDT allows parts and materials to be inspected and measured without damaging them. Because it allows inspection without interfering with a product's final use, NDT provides an excellent balance between quality control and cost-effectiveness. This eight-course certificate program can be completed in as little as one semester.

Explore Our ASNT-Approved Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Program

Our Nondestructive Testing (NDT) program is fully approved by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), ensuring that you receive training aligned with industry standards. All of our instructors are ASNT Level III certified, bringing top-tier expertise and real-world experience to the classroom. Whether you're looking to start a career or advance your skills, our program provides the knowledge and credentials you need to succeed in this high-demand field.

Each workshop attendee receives a Moraine Valley Community College certificate of attendance and the appropriate adult education credit. Individuals who successfully complete ND8-112 Radiation Safety will be prepared to take the radiographer trainee test administered by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). Individuals who successfully complete the NDT courses will have fulfilled the training requirements for certification as defined by SNT-TC-1A and ANSI/ASNT-CP-189.

A few short courses could lead you into an exciting apprenticeship where you could evaluate the structural soundness of bridges, nuclear facilities, roller coasters, airplanes, or a rocket to the moon.

Some jobs include:

  • Assistant Technician
  • NDT Assistant
  • NDT Engineer
  • NDT Inspector
  • NDT Technician
  • NDT Trainee
